Unbox your Future

Unbox Your Future offers young people a stimulating 4-week training programme that helps them learn about working in an organisation like the Peter Le Marchant Trust. Students discuss roles and responsibilities, and learn hospitality skills that they then use on an actual boat trip. Read more

Well-being and the waterways

We team up with other organisations including the Canal and River Trust, the National Citizen Service, Prince’s Trust and Loughborough Sea Cadets to facilitate an exciting range of opportunities. This might include a series of workshops and passenger experiences, to teaching young people about the history of canals and boats and what it takes to keep them shipshape. This year, we have another action-packed schedule of events. Read more

Train to be Skipper

We are always on the lookout for new skippers. We have over 30 qualified helms all of whom comply with Maritime and Coastal Agency statutory standards. Our boats

Instead of narrow boats, we operate two broad-beam boats, Serenade and Symphony, for our day trips. They are 4-feet (1.2m) wider than narrow boats and offer more comfort and facilities to our passengers. They include hydraulic lifts for wheelchair users, and take up to 26 passengers. We also have a self-hire narrow boat, Jubilee, launched in 2022, to give wheelchair users an unforgettable holiday on the waterways. Read more

Our aim is to provide a positive and enriching experience aboard our boats, to allow the joy and tranquillity of the waterways to be accessible to everyone regardless of financial, physical and social constraints.
